Earlier this week, actor Gary Sinise — well known for his role at Lt. Dan in “Forrest Gump” — revealed he was visiting America’s military men and women who are deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan for the Christmas season:

But while he was there, Gen. Mark Milley, the chief of staff of the U.S. Army, had a long overdue surprise for “Lt. Dan.” In an honorary battlefield promotion, Sinise is now “Capt. Dan” in recognition of all the hard work he has done supporting service members.
It’s certainly a well-deserved promotion.
